Success in Difficult Cases
R v C, 2012 SCJ
Our client’s fingerprint was found on duct tape, that was in the getaway car. The car was used in a robbery. Our client is alleged to have made a confession to the police, admitting to being the person on surveillance shown during the robbery. We successfully argued for the exclusion of the confession. Ultimately the fingerprint evidence was not sufficient for identification. Not guilty verdict.
R v BJ, 2023 SCJ
Client was in the rear passenger car of a vehicle. Police searched the car without a warrant. Police found a loaded firearm and guns under the seat where our client was sitting. Clients DNA was on the firearm. We successfully argued that it was not sufficient evidence. Charges were dismissed after trial.
NP v MP, 2022 SCJ
Our client was a common law spouse. All the properties and businesses were in the name of the responding spouse. The responding spouse refused to give our client any interest in the properties or business. We successfully got a settlement for our client for the equivalent of $1.7 million.
